What does a famous Octopus painting and Muay Thai have in common? They are both “an art of 8 limbs”.

Okay, so that was a stretch. But it’s true! Muay Thai really is known as the art of 8 limbs, and you’ll just have to take this kickboxing class to find out why.

At Gracie Barra, you’ll learn that the 8 limbs come from the use of both hands, elbows, knees. and shins. A practitioner of Muay Thai “nak muay” thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight “points of contact” as opposed to two (fists) in many Western boxing styles.

It is just as the old ancient phrase goes, “Learn the art of the 8 limbs, lest ye become calamari.” Or something like that.
