Designed for climbers with some experience under their belt, this class is the perfect way to pick up the basics of leading. Work under the guidance of an experienced staff in an outdoor setting. Cover terms, theory, gear and knot essentials, and safety. Learn to build and clean anchors, rappel, and consciously fall.
This class is also a prerequisite for more advanced study leading to intermediate climbs ... For those looking to take their climbing to new heights.
Note: Prerequisites: Rock Climbing 201 or comparable experience.The Rope Handling Clinic is also STRONGLY suggested before this course.
Participants who have not taken 'Rock 201' must have, and will be asked to demonstrate at the start of the course, experience:
- Placing both active and passive trad gear in single & multi-directional placements
- Building 3 & 4 piece traditional anchors with a cordelette
- Sport Lead climbing & belaying
