Sometimes you find beauty in the most unexpected places. For instance, Protection Island seems like a dry, uninhabitable place, but it’s actually home to thousands of amazing nesting birds, and a hotspot for other migrating species, including seals and gulls!
The island is only a short ride away from Port Townsend. You’ll join an expert from the local Marine Science Center, who’ll teach you all about the incredible animals you see.
Make sure you bring your camera! You’ll probably be able to get shots of puffins carrying small fish in their beaks, swimming, flying or diving. And those cute seals are just so photogenic, aren’t they?
