Capoeira (pronounced ka-poo-eyh-da) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art self-defense form that incorporates acrobatics, dance, percussion, and songs in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind, and spirit. It is a communal game in which two opponents play each other inside a circle, formed by the other players who create rhythm for the game by clapping, singing and playing traditional instruments. During this class, you'll learn basic Capoeira movements, such as camouflaging self-defense kicks with playful acrobatics and dance-like moves, in order to spontaneously create strategies to fool and catch your opponent off guard. Enjoy a fun alternative workout to your typical jog in a welcoming environment, and leave with practical knowledge of self-defense skills that may very well come in handy some day!
Note: This is a free trial class for first time students only. You must be over the age of 13 years old to attend this class.
