Quick! To the Delorian! But we’re not going back to the future quite yet -- first we need to stop in the 1800s!
Come enjoy an informative and amazing day at the Pardee Home Museum in Oakland California! During this tour your educated guide will take you through the unique interiors and exteriors of the home of one of East Bay’s most influential families.
Learn the fascinating history of the Pardee family, who came to California with hopes of striking rich during the gold rush, and then gained incredible political and social influence in the area. George Pardee alone was responsible for founding the Port of Oakland, the local water utility, and California’s Progressive Party.
However, the most intriguing aspect of this tour is Helen Pardee’s prodigious private collection of items ranging from the sublime to the bizarre. In this collection you will see a scrimshaw from Alaska, candlesticks from India, altar pieces from China, weapons from Africa, rosaries from Mexico, fine art from California, and so much more!
