    Capoeira Basics (First Time Students Only)

    Capoeira (pronounced ka-poo-eyh-da) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art self-defense form that incorporates acrobatics, dance, percussion, and songs in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind, and spirit. It is a communal game in which two opponents play each other inside a circle, formed by the other players who create rhythm for the game by clapping, singing and playing traditional instruments. During this class, you'll learn basic Capoeira movements, such as camouflaging self-defense kicks with playful acrobatics and dance-like moves, in order to spontaneously create strategies to fool and catch your opponent off guard.     Kung Fu

    Everybody is kung fu fighting, but your kicks aren't fast as lightning? Bet that can be a little bit frightening. Up your self-defense game by learning traditional Chinese martial arts with Eight Step Mantis! You'll find yourself in a supportive studio environment that takes training and fitness seriously. Each class starts off with a meditation to clear the mind, and a warmup to prepare the body.
