What to expect
- Immerse yourself in an interactive game in which you play a detective trying to capture an art thief

- Work with a small team to better your odds of completing the task within the allotted time
- Feel the rush of urgency as you race against the clock to win the game
About this Activity
This interactive experience puts you in a room with a small team of fellow detectives, where you'll need to examine various works of art to locate clues and decipher puzzles using what you've found. If you can successfully complete this challenge, you'll find way into a locked safe, recover the artwork, and capture the culprit.
But you've got a limited time frame in which to get the job done, meaning you've not only got to bring your critical thinking skills, but you've also got to work together with the others in the room.
The fate of the art world is in your hands! More importantly, you could win a prize.

Political Room Escape July 31, 2017Wrote a hella wrong check in but...
The characters we played were super goofy and really fun to play with your friends. The puzzles weren't impossible but not super easy either!
Satoshi and Katie were amazing. 10/10 would recommend -

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) July 12, 2017This place is awesome - one of my favorite escape rooms in the DC/Baltimore area! The owner does a great job of setting up the room and making the story lines actually interesting and not cheesy. Added bonus: you do not have to be paired with randos if you do not fill the room. if you've done an escape room with strangers you understand that it can get awkward depending on who comes in with you.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) July 9, 2017We did amazing brunch at Ambar followed by a trip to the Escape Artist DC for my birthday. We had an amazing time! The Art Heist was medium difficulty and we needed some clues (mimosas from earlier didn't help). Coordination via email was super easy, and they offer a military discount! There was so much beautiful artwork and little details, to the house and the game...go check it out!

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) April 27, 2017My co-workers and I barely escaped the Night at the Museum room and had a blast during every minute! The clues were challenging and different enough that each of us could find a puzzle to solve that best suited our particular skills. Most of us had never tried an escape room & ALL of us want to come back to this one & try the other rooms. Also the location is perfect being right @Barracks row.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) April 23, 2017My husband and I played the Night at the Museum room and it was challenging and fun! When we arrived, we had the choice of several rooms because they were available and I loved that we could read descriptions about the rooms that were posted in the lobby. We enjoyed the variety of puzzles in the room and were close to escaping. For medium skilled escapers, I think the room is perfectly done. Also, the price is right on target, if not a bit of a deal, at $20 a person! We want to go back and try the other rooms.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) February 19, 2017So much fun! This was my first escape room so I've nothing to judge them against but it was a great experience! Staff was super nice and the room was a really fun challenge. We went with kids and friends and it felt appropriate for all of us. We'd totally go back again!
As well there is parking lot across street if you can't find street parking, it's right off 695 if you're coming from the burbs (as we were) and there's tons of great restaurants right around the corner! -

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) February 11, 2017Way too much fun!! It was our first time so getting started was a little confusing. After a couple of minutes we started to figure it out and the fun was on!!
If you are looking for something fun and unique with a group of friends, this is the activity for you.
This was an absolute riot and we will definitely do again. -

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) January 17, 2017This was the very first Escape Room-type of thing I had done & it was perfect! I am now addicted & have been to over 15 different rooms, all over the world! We actually came back to this Escape Artist to do a different room & it was just as good as I had remembered. The rooms are just tough enough, but with the clues & the hints given, it is challenging & fun! The building itself is a rowhouse, and is very non-descript. There are 2 rooms upstairs & 1 room downstairs, with a lounge area to wait in. There is a parking lot right across the street.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) January 1, 2017Fun!! Fun!! Fun!! The Escape Artist DC was so much fun!! We arrived early and were able to get started right away. Since we were a group of 5, we were given a choice of which room to escape! We chose the Gallery Heist. The clues were challenging, interesting, and a ton of fun! The puzzles required teamwork and great communication skills! We were able to escape the room!! We loved that there were multiple ways to solve the Heist. We will definitely be back!

Political Room Escape June 21, 2016The location is in a row house, which is very normal for DC, but very confusing to our huge group as we pulled up in our 40 passenger bus. The lounge area is a little small, as we had a group of 20. We had to split up into teams of 2, so one group did the Night at the Museum, and one group did Gallery Heist. There is a room with an intro video that you watch first, and they have different language versions, as well as an ASL version. My group did the Night at the Museum room, and I will tell you--this room was difficult! This is not my first escape room challenge that I've done in DC. We could not figure it out in the time allotted. We actually did this activity as a team-building excercise for our company, and I will say that this is excellent for that. You have many different clues strewn around a room, and yet you still need to all work together even if you are all working on different clues, to be able to get out of the room.
This place is also wheelchair/walker/scooter friendly. -

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) June 21, 2016Don't be fooled by the exterior of the place - it's not as shady as it looks! :) We held a corporate event here with about 20 people. We used all three rooms and did 2 of the rooms twice. The clues did take lots of thinking outside the box and plenty of teamwork. Both Milind and Elena were super nice and helpful throughout the whole experience from pre-day planning/scheduling (very easy to use website and quick response time on emails), helping to unload the car and set up the lobby for socializing, explaining the rules, and debriefing. All had a great time and said they wanted to come back!

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) May 22, 2016This was my first-ever escape room, and I had a blast! I really enjoyed the puzzles, which were challenging yet logical and built on each other in a way that made sense but was not overly linear. You had to keep returning to things you had seen before once new pieces of the puzzle came to light. The staff did a great job of giving us just the nudges we needed to keep it fun, finding the balance between taking away the challenge and leaving us mired in frustration. We did Gallery Heist, and I liked that you were not only trying to escape from the room, but also putting together clues to solve a mystery at the same time. The designer was super nice, and we had fun debriefing with him and hearing a bit about his goals and process in designing the rooms. Definitely plan to return to try out the other rooms.

Political Room Escape April 26, 2016My wife and three of my best friends took me here for my 30th (woo hoo!) birthday and we had a blast! The man who runs it, Milind, is awesome and is very passionate about everyone having fun and he only adds to it. The game last no more than 45 minutes and he allows you a few hints. My group did it in 30 minutes and we had so much fun solving the mystery. At the end, he gave us prizes and we took some photos together. I recommend this for any friend group or even co-workers for team building. It's right in Eastern Market and just half a block from Barracks Row so you can enjoy a drink afterwards.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! -

Political Room Escape February 6, 2016My husband and I just came back from doing the house of bards room and we had an amazing time!! It was our first time doing an escape room and it was definitely challenging! It was just us two so we didn't make it out of the room, I would definitely recommend going with at least 4 people but we still had so much fun! The owner was so nice too!! There was a minor mixup with our time and he ended giving us a refund back! I will definitely come back and bring a large group of friends. We're really happy we found this place! No wonder why all the reviews are 5 stars! Definitely check this place out!!

Political Room Escape January 10, 2016This place was a lot of fun, it's a bit incognito to find. The rooms are well thought out and everything links to another clue. The clues make you think out of the box and keep you wanting more. The rooms are very doable with 3 people, it's going to get crowded with 10. Next time in in the DC area I'm come here again.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) November 16, 2015We had a great time in our escape room, despite it being just my wife and me.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) November 14, 2015My fiancee and I are absolutely obsessed with this place now (more so me, but she's supportive of my addiction). We have done all three of the rooms offered here and they are all challenging and fun. The owner clearly enjoys what he does and carefully plans each room from the theme down to each individual clue. It is also right at the start of Barracks Row so you can make a night out it really easily with all the restaurant and bars. Good luck!

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) November 12, 2015This my first escape room experience and it was great! We did the art gallery heist - it had a good mix of puzzles and clues. Milind, the owner and manager, did a great job of orienting and debriefing us -- the place is a reflection of his passion for puzzles and art.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) October 11, 2015It was great really fun and interactive. Maybe give us more time because we ran out of time but still it was very fun. Really had to think about it.

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) September 28, 2015I've been to about 3 of these and this one is the best so far in this area. The game was not too hard but challenging enough for people who haven't tried this type of "mind quest" to achieve. We did the Gallery Heist w/ another group and had a blast. I would recommend this place for a fun girls night out or team building event w/your co-workers. We will definitely come by and play again....

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Day) September 5, 2015This was soooo much fun - did this on a Friday night and had such a blast! Milen, the guide, made the game more challenging for us because some of us had done the game before. It was pretty tough - we made it though with five minutes to spare. It's an amazing way to get to know your friends in a unique environment, where you really get to know how they think! I think 5/6 people is the perfect amount to go with, so you really get to participate in the game and soak it all up. I don't want to give anything away, but I love the DC theme of the room we played in- so bring out of town friends, they will definitely enjoy it. Apparently each room has a 'storyline' that they will continue throughout the year - so you can keep coming back for more overall - absolutely loved it!!!

Gallery Heist Room Escape (Evening) July 13, 2015Due to the size of the rooms, there should only be 4-6 people per escape room. During my experience there was a total of 10 people and it was extremely difficult to maneuver around. Also with such a large group, it's hard to make sure everyone is on the same page (I.E. working on a clue that has already been solved). If the group size was smaller it would be a more enjoyable experience for all and I would definitely do it again.

Political Room Escape April 27, 2015Went here for the first time for a friends birthday. We had a blast! Of course, the birthday girl, made our puzzle even more challenging :) But it was a lot of fun. There was one point where we opened one lockbox to find another lockbox inside (lawl). We had a blast trying to put our heads together to figure out the mystery. I would definitely come back here.
Note: I also had bought the ticket for the wrong time and the owner/guy just said,"Oh, don't worry! I can give you a refund when you come." And he did. Super nice guy and hilarious to hear others experiences from him. Great host. Great place. I hope this place does well! -

Political Room Escape April 26, 2015Are you good at puzzles??? Then this is the challenge for you!! They can make it more challenging if you want too!
So this place on the outside looks like a normal row house. There's currently a little paper sign in the window. Go on up to the second floor. Someone will greet you and you can wait until everyone gets there. Tip- use the bathroom before going in... you will be locked in the room for 45 mins. They will give you four hints. If you take them, getting out can be am easy challenge... unless you're like my group-- hints??? Don't need'em unless we're really stuck...
Most of the puzzles are multi step... just rummage through everything and see what you get!!
Its more fun with friends, so put together a group and test your puzzle solving skills!! -
