What a great way to spend the last Saturday of summer! Our wonderful guide, Jackie, not only led us on a tour of 6 varied eateries in the central Market Street area, but gave us amazing insight into the history and architecture of Frederick as well. We sampled sandwiches, salad, fried green tomatoes, pizza, soda, beer, wine, chocolate and even ice cream. We walked by buildings said to be haunted, saw the benefits of community activism, learned of plans for the future and the unknown early leaders of our country. I expected an enjoyable Saturday spent with good food and friends. I got that and so much more: knowledge and appreciation of a historical yet vibrant modern city.

Food truly delicious and plenty of it - no need to buy lunch afterward. Walk is at a leisurely pace, with plenty of stops for local history lessons. Tour guide Ann Truelove was a joy to be with for 3 hours - friendly, knowledgeable, plenty of good stories about Frederick. Plan now is to schedule a tour in December as a birthday gift.

When my wife offered to take me on this walk, I said to myself what the heck at least we're spending time together walking. As a DC area native, I drive past and through Frederick frequently. But I had no idea how much it has changed over the years. Most of the crowds in downtown area are younger, not like in the older days of an area where the town needed a make over. We were greeted by Jacky as we met outside the pretzel dough store. They provided some awesome turkey reuben calzones. Sample size, but none the less great tasting. We proceeded then with our tour to various locations, the Market Pop Shop (which has 140 different types of soda pops) to Brewers Alley. Here they provided pizza and their private rye beer. While we enjoyed our food, our guide provided insight into Fredericks history from way back. We then procedded to various locations while learning how art, and restoration of downtown has changed Frederick to one of Americas top little cities. Some other stops were The Wine Kitchen where we sampled locally grown vegetables, as well as various wines from overseas that we sampled. We stopped at Firestone Market on Market. They had the best Pastrami sandwich I have tatsed, and trust me from tates in NYC and many other delis, this was the best. Who knew a little place had such great food. We also stopped at Zoe's Chocolate which also supplies Camp David and other important events. This little gourmet chocolate store had many tasty delights. Overall this was more than I imagined and was a great day to take a walk. Who knew?

This tour is FANTASTIC! Each of the restaurants we visited were extremely unique and filled a niche.
Our tour guide Jessica had an obvious love for the town and the local businesses--she didn't just work there but also lived there and frequented the same businesses we visited because she enjoys them! It gave a very first-hand and honest evaluation of the town.
The food is OUTSTANDING!!! Be sure to go HUNGRY when you go--you are served a LOT of food!!!
And the history that is included on the tour is fascinating. I would definitely go on this tour again, and will be visiting Frederick again for sure!!

I would definitely recommend this tour!! The food tasted amazing. Our tour guide Jackie was so knowledgable and enthusiastic. The area was quaint. All in all, I could not have had a better experience!

My husband and I had an incredible time on our tour today! Even though we were both raised in Frederick and have lived here for many years it was interesting to learn more about the culture and history of our hometown. We went to six different establishments and sampled (portion sizes much larger then what I consider samples) excellent food. It was nice to try food we wouldn't usually choose if we were picking ourselves. Living here for so many years and still learning more about Frederick was a lot of fun. Our tour guide Jackie was excellent! We will definitely do the tour again and would love to have her as our tour guide. To add to the uniqueness of our tour was that part of downtown Frederick lost power so we couldn't go to our last two tastings, but Jackie took us to two other places and made excellent substitutions. She also shared many great tips for future activities. She left us with a lot of fun homework! I highly recommend this tour to locals as well as out of town visitors. Hope to see Taste Frederick add additional tours, but would not hesitate to take the same tour again.

A fantastic combination of food, alcohol, and culture/history. The three hour tour goes to six different restaurants in town and you get a sample (pretty large sample) by the time you are done. The food is outstanding, you get a fasinating history of Frederick - and the tourguides are fantastic. Highly Recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jackie yesterday. The tastings were all delicious. The tour of town was educational and fascinating. The length of the tour and ratio or walking to sitting was perfect. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone

Went on the Food Tour with a group of friends from work. What a fabulous day! Jackie, our tour guide, was very informative about the history of Frederick as well as the offerings at the 6 stops on the tour. Each stop was set and ready to serve us. We had two cancellations in our group but were able to add two others who are vegetarians at the last minute. They were offered comparable tastings and were as thrilled with their food as much as we were. I highly recommend this tour and company. Fantastic time!

Our tour guide, Jackie was great. She knew a lot of facts about Frederick's history, that was new information to even the locals like myself on the tour. However, I would recommend giving us longer at each place to eat. We had 10-15 minutes at most of the places and we felt rushed everywhere we were eating and drinking. If we had 20 minutes at each main food place, that would have been better. Also, I would suggest doing some history between Brewers, Market on Market, and the Griffs spots. Those food places were back to back so we filled up quickly because we were eating so quickly. Breaking it up with short history in between would be better. Very fun Saturday activity though!

Easy blend of history, exercise and good food. Even in the cold winter temps, I spent a lovely afternoon with friends on the Taste Frederick tour. Even though we have lived here a decade, (or more) we all learned a few new facts. Tour was a great pace, with plenty of time to chat and catch up with friends and meet some new ones. Can't wait for the new listing of additional tours!

Great way to spend an afternoon !
This tour gives you a chance to learn about the evolving culinary scene, the history, architecture and future development of the town.
Locally sourced ingredients used at the brew pub, wine kitchen, and other great restaurants keep the food fresh and interesting. Unique sandwiches (the pastrami and swiss !), decadent handmade chocolates and an amazing assortment of "pop" from around the country make this tour a fun way to learn AND get STUFFED !
Jackie, our tour guide, was funny, engaging and very knowledgable.
She knew her food as well as her local history and art/architecture !
We had a great time !
