Once the homes of 19th-century nouveau-riche, these houses are now the elegant abodes of ambassadors from around the world. You’ll learn about the history of Embassy Row from a knowledgeable local guide as you walk, beginning in Dupont Circle.

You’ll walk approximately 1.5 miles, heading up Massachusetts Avenue (Embassy Row), before turning onto R Street at Sheridan Circle, and concluding at the Phillips Collection Museum (admission not included).

In addition to fascinating historical accounts, your guide will point out architectural examples and oddities, making this an all-around “constructive” experience for the D.C. newcomer!
