    Historic & Growing Garden Tour

Take a step back in history as you explore the botanical roots of Colonial America up through the modern day. This lively guided walk traces the history and horticulture of centuries-old trees, heirloom plants and flowers, and abundant English boxwood across the five-and-a-half-acre landscape. In the design of the gardens, you can see the history of Tudor Place for yourself, from it’s Federal-period origins to the places where orchards, stables, and grazing fields have given way to lawns, fountains, and garden “rooms.” As you walk amongst the picturesque scenery, you’ll learn to identify the varieties of plant life that surround you, and learn how the development of Georgetown and the Federal city influenced six generations of owners.
