Dolphin & Whale Signature Safari (Adults 13+)

    (6)
Feel like you need a little more porpoise in your life? If you answered "No, I want to see whales and dolphins," then this is the sea-faring safari for you! You'll set sail on high-tech catamarans, in search of some of the year-round dolphins and whales famous for populating the waters off of Dana Point. What could you see? December through May the annual migration of Gray Whales between the waters off Alaska and the lagoons of Baja, CA takes place. In the months between May and November Blue Whales, the largest animal on earth, can be seen. And throughout the year Fin Whales, Minke Whales, Humpback Whales, and occasionally Orcas visit. Rare whales that could be seen at any time include Bryde's Whales, Sei Whales, Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales, and False Killer Whales. And playful dolphins, some in mega-pods of up to 10,000, are seen off Dana Point all year round too! Only aboard the catamaran Manute'a can you see dolphins underwater, without getting wet, in our Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods. Capt. Dave's original catamaran DolphinSafari is so close to the water that it's like viewing dolphins and whales from a kayak. Both boats feature our Eye-Spy Dolphin Nets to give you a really up close encounter! Lily, our luxury power catamaran, features cushioned bow seating, upper deck with wind and sun protection, and a beautifully appointed interior. Mrs. Captain Dave's yummy triple fudge brownies are served as a special treat on all trips. Along the way, naturalists will treat you with insights about how these amazing creatures live and play. It's going to be a whale of a good time!

Seaplane Whale Watching & Aerial Tour (10 Mins)

View La Jolla's picturesque coastline and the majestic cliffs rising above Black's Beach as you soar over the Glider Port at the Torrey Pines Golf Course. On this flight you'll be seeking out the great Blue Whale - the largest mammal on planet Earth. Adult Blue Whales can grow to more than 100' long and weigh over 150 tons. December to April each winter they take part in their annual migration just off the coast of San Diego travelling south from Alaska, past San Diego, on the way to give birth to their new calves in the warm bays and lagoons of Baja California. The new whale babies along with their moms and dads head back north mid winter and early spring to spend the summer months feeding in Alaska. While in flight, it is common to see pods of playful dolphins, slap-happy seals, or barking sea lions. With the right conditions (clear water and small surf) you could see dozens of young leopard sharks in the waters near the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Enjoy this aerial tour and catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures.
